A conductive biasing contact (7) between the seat and rear portion (4) of the flashlight barrel is disposed to contact the anodized conductive barrel when the tail cap (6) is attached at the screw thread. The front end of the contact presses against a biased spring (8) arranged laterally and circumferentially relative to the longitudinal axis of the conductive barrel, and in contact with a conducting part of the battery. When the cap is threaded on to the barrel the decrease in distance between the spring and batteries (5) causes the contact to be more heavily in contact with the conductive surface of the barrel. The increased friction strips the anodized layer from the conductive layer forming an electrical contact at that point. |
