PURPOSE: A thermoplastic resin excellent in plating properties comprising an ABS graft copolymer and an aromatic polycarbonate resin and preparation method thereof are provided which have improved resistance against ultra violet rays and chemical corrosion and conductivity to electroplate. CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin excellent in plating properties comprises: (a)from 10 to 90% by weight of ABS graft copolymer mixed a rubbery polymer of a small particle diameter having a weight mean molecular weight of from 40,000 to 120,000 and a rubbery polymer of a large particle diameter having a weight mean molecular weight of from 40,000 to 120,000 in a ratio of 5: 95 - 30: 70 and (b)from 10 to 90% weight of aromatic polycarbonate having a number mean molecular weight of from 1,000 to 200,000. Also described is a method for preparing it, which produces a thermoplastic resin capable of substituting conventional metal and useful as car parts such as radiator grills, hub caps, lamp housings, and door handles and furniture parts for ornament. |
