PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabricating method of a magnetic head of a recording and reproducing integrated-type in which an upper portion of a lower recording magnetic pole is pre-formed into a projecting shape and an upper magnetic pole is buried into a projecting section in a non-magnetic material layer to be formed over the projecting section, capable of forming the upper magnetic pole by a plating method with satisfactory burying characteristics and obtaining a magnetic head having satisfactory magnetic characteristics. SOLUTION: A step for forming a layered structure that includes a lower magnetic pole 7 having a projecting section 11, a magnetic gap 12 provided on the surface of the lower magnetic pole, and a non-magnetic material layer 13, provided over the surface of the magnetic gap 12, having a recessed section 14 positionally aligned with the projecting section 11 with the magnetic gap layer 2 being exposed at the bottom surface of the recessed section 14, a step for forming a plated electrode film on the surfaces of the non-magnetic material layer 13 and the exposed magnetic gap 12, and a step for forming an upper magnetic pole material layer 16 on the surface of the plated electrode film by a plating method, are performed. |
