Apparatus for aerobic biological treatment of aqueous organic wastes

An apparatus for aerobic biological treatment of aqueous organic wastes, which enables to achieve a reduction of the amount of excess sludge and which can realize a stable quality of the treated water with an improved sedimentation performance of the biosludge while suppressing increases in the area of installation site and in the construction investment using a smaller apparatus. The apparatus comprises a first aeration tank (11a) for mixing the aqueous organic waste with an activated sludge and aerating the resulting mixture; a solid/liquid separation unit (12); a modification unit (2) for modifying a part of the separated sludge so as to render it easily biodegradable; and a second aeration tank (11b) for aerating the modified sludge and a return sludge and then returning them to said first aeration tank.
