PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the starting time by heating catalyst to the activation temperature or above in a short time in a fuel reforming device. SOLUTION: At the time of staring up, a rapid oxidation reaction is raised in a 2nd catalyst part 2 to heat a 1st catalyst in the down stream by the high temperature generated gas by supplying hydrocarbon fuel and an oxidizing agent from the upstream from a 2nd catalyst part and steam from the upstream from the 1st catalyst part 1. At the time of shifting from the starting up to a normal operation, after a prescribed time is elapsed, the hydrocarbon fuel and steam are supplied from the upstream from the 2nd catalyst part 2 and the oxidizing agent is supplied from the upstream from the 1st catalyst part 1 to raise the steam reforming reaction in the 2nd catalyst part 2 to reduce the temperature of the 2nd catalyst part 2 rapidly by the endothermic and the reaction is stopped. The hydrocarbon fuel and steam only passed through are served to the partial oxidation reaction and the steam reforming reaction in the 1st catalyst part 1 of the downstream to produce the hydrogen enriched reformed gas. |
