At first, components and their concentration in thee mixture are determined. Concentration of the hazardous components is reduced by dilution. Concentration of organic components is adjusted to 30-50% of that of the inorganic components. pH of the mixture is adjusted, preferably by the addition of 'red mud', to 6-9. The treated waste is spread over the surface of an ash deposit, in a layer 20-60cm thick. The waste is mixed in with top 20-30cm of the ash deposit, while the leeching of metal ions is prevented by a chemical reaction. The surface of the waste deposit is sown with a plant seed, preferably on several terraces. Eventually the 20-30cm thick, humus containing layer can be used for agricultural purposes. |
