PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium capable of preventing the aperture ratio from lowering and securing a sufficient interval between substrates. SOLUTION: The image display medium 10 is equipped with a transparent display substrate 12 of the image display side and a rear substrate 14 placed opposite to the display substrate 12 at a specified interval. The interval between the display substrate 12 and the rear substrate 14 is kept constant by spacers 20 consisting of first spacers 16 formed on the display substrate 12 and second spacers 18 formed on the rear substrate 14. In cells 22 surrounded by the display substrate 12, the rear substrate 14 and the spacers 20, particle groups with mutually different electrostatic properties, for example positively charged black particles 24 and negatively charged white particles 26, are enclosed.
