PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately dispose an optical material in a fixed position with low cost, high throughput, high degrees of freedom of optical materials, or the like in a matrix type display device, and to provide its manufacturing method, wherein the optical material being liquid, at least when it is applied. SOLUTION: On a display substrate, a step height, a distribution of hydrophilic or hydrophobic areas, a distribution of electric potentials, or the like is formed using a first bus wiring in a passive matrix type display device, and is formed using a scanning line, signal line, common power supply line, pixel electrode, inter layer insulation film, light shield layer, or the like in an active matrix type display device.
