PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the axial dimension of a drive unit of a hybrid vehicle having an engine and an electric motor that serve as a driving source. SOLUTION: According to the drive unit, a driving force from the engine 10 and the electric motor 11 is transmitted to a torque converter input shaft 17 that serves as the input shaft of a transmission 12. The electric motor 11 assists the engine 10 in providing the driving force. The inner rotor 35 of the electric motor 11 is fixed to the torque converter input shaft 17, while the stator 32 of the motor 11 is fitted to a case 45 disposed between the transmission 12 and the engine 10. The stator 32 is of a concentrated winding type formed by winding a coil 48 around each tooth. A holding member 50 extends radially inward through each gap between the coils 48, and is attached to the case 45, where a detector 54a of a phase angle sensor 54, which is a component of the drive unit, is fitted to the holding member 50.
