PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the efficiency in retrieval while reducing user's burden in registration. SOLUTION: This document management device comprises a retrieval result display means that can retrieve an item such as a document or folder based on a keyword specified by a user, display the item extracted as a result of the retrieval, and receive operation by the user to the item, a target operation determining means for determining whether the operation executed when the user operates the item shown by the retrieval result display means is one of previously registered operations, a keyword extraction means for extracting a keyword related to the item from the keywords specified by the retrieval when the determination result by the target operation determination means is correct, and an index registeration means for registering the keyword extracted by the keyword extraction means as the index of the item.
