<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for increasing performance effect by fluctuation display of a plurality of symbols. <P>SOLUTION: In a case where a special varying pattern is chosen, when a candidate symbol to partly fulfill the contents of the mission is displayed to stop, the stop of display of the candidate symbol is held, while fluctuation of other candidate symbols composing the same effective line is restarted. As the mission is partly achieved in symbol fluctuation, fluctuation of other candidate symbols which may possibly fulfill the mission finally is continued.
