A printing quality control method and apparatus are disclosed for an intaglio printing press including an intaglio cylinder (14) which is supplied with ink, an impression cylinder (13) opposing the intaglio cylinder (14), and holding a sheet (W) which is supplied with the ink from the intaglio cylinder (14), and a motor (45) for adjusting a printing pressure between the intaglio cylinder (14) and the impression cylinder (13). The emboss amount of a printing product of printing by the intaglio printingpress ismeasuredbya face side distance measuring instrument (50) and a reverse side distance measuring instrument (51), and the motor (45) for adjusting the printing pressure between the intaglio cylinder (14) and the impression cylinder (13) is drivingly controlled based on the emboss amount measured.
