PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful for resins, pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high efficiency while suppressing the production of by-product by reacting a nitrous acid ester with carbon monoxide in vapor phase in the presence of a solid catalyst, etc., supporting a platinum-group metal (salt) and 2-hydroxypyridines. CONSTITUTION:The objective carbonic acid ester (e.g. diethyl carbonate) can be produced by reacting a nitrous acid ester (e.g. ethyl nitrite) with carbon monoxide in vapor phase at 100 deg.C for 1hr in the presence of a solid catalyst produced by supporting a platinum-group metal or its salt (e.g. palladium chloride) and a 2-hydroxypyridine compound (e.g. 2-hydroxypyridine) on a carrier (e.g. activated carbon) or supporting a complex compound consisting of a platinum-group metal or its salt and a 2-hydroxypyridine compound on a carrier. The solid catalyst may contain metallic copper or a copper salt (e.g. cupric chloride) supported on a carrier in addition to the platinum-group metal and the 2-hydroxypyridine compound. |
