摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for correcting a vehicle position-azimuth, capable of correcting vehicle azimuth to correct the position and the azimuth within a short time, after GPS reception becomes available. SOLUTION: In a navigation system which uses a GPS receiver and an autonomous navigation sensor in combination, a vehicle position-azimuth correcting part stores the vehicle position and the vehicle azimuth, when navigation control stops, and makes them as the initial position and the initial azimuth of the vehicle, when the navigation starts. Then, after the navigation is started, it is monitored whether the reliability of the GPS azimuth obtained from the GPS receiver becomes higher, while the position and the azimuth of the vehicle are estimated using sensor output signals obtained from the autonomous navigation sensor and the initial position and the initial azimuth of the vehicle. When the reliability of the GPS azimuth obtained from the GPS receiver becomes higher, the vehicle position-azimuth correcting part corrects the present position of the vehicle, by using the GPS azimuth and the estimated vehicle position.
