A hold circuit and a method for preventing a bang-band error, a calibration circuit including the hold circuit and an analog-digital converter are provided to reduce an area by not increasing the number of comparators by stopping the counting if the previous comparison value is different from the current comparison value in the comparator. A comparator(710) compares a target voltage with a tracking voltage which is gradually changed. A counter(730) counts the code according to the comparison result of the comparator. A hold circuit(720) includes a storage, a delay unit and a control unit. A storage unit receives and stores the comparison value of the comparator periodically. The delay unit receives, delays the comparison value of the comparator and outputs the delayed value. If the comparison value of the previous period stored in the storage unit is different from the current comparison value outputted from the comparator, the controller enables the hold signal.
