PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device that has high extendability.SOLUTION: A disk device 10 has multiple modules 20, 30, 40 arranged in the first direction, a carrier unit 70 retaining disks, and a carrier unit moving mechanism for moving a carrier unit so as to make multiple modules pass in the first direction. As the carrier unit moving mechanism, first racks 140 and second racks 142 are provided in parallel to each module, and first pinions 92 engaging the first racks and second pinions 94 engaging the second racks are provided in the carrier unit so that a first direction position is different. Also, the first racks 140 are provided at each module so as to be arranged in the first direction at intervals. Further, the second racks are provided at each module so as to be engaged at least in the second pinion during the first pinion is disengaged from one hand of adjacent first rack and engaged with the other first rack.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 20 |
