ELECTROLYTE AND SECONDARY BATTERY COMPRISING THE SAME

The present invention relates to an electrolyte and a secondary battery including the same. The electrolyte includes a sulfone-based solvent represented by Chemical Formula 1, an ether-based solvent represented by Chemical Formula 2, and electrolytic salt represented by Chemical Formula 3. Contents regarding the Chemical Formulas 1 to 3 are the same as the description in the detailed description of the present invention and the scope of claims. The electrolyte is used in a secondary battery that is operated not by a monovalent cation such as Li^+ ion but by a multivalent cation such as Mg^2+ and Ca^2+. In this manner, the secondary battery can be increased in capacity. In addition, formation of a film with a very high resistance is suppressed on a surface of a magnesium metal cathode or a calcium metal cathode which is used in the multivalent cation secondary battery, and thus magnesium metal cathode or calcium metal cathode battery characteristics can be maximized.
