PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loading unit and retention band assembly.SOLUTION: A loading unit and retention band 40 assembly, includes: a shell having a proximal end portion 22 that defines an engagement window 27 and that includes an annular surface 23; and a retention band disposed radially about the annular surface of the proximal end portion of the shell. The retention band includes a resilient body having first and second ends. The first end includes a resilient lock that is configured to extend through the engagement window of the proximal end portion of the shell.
