PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic substrate having a small porosity by kneading ceramic materials under elevated pressure, forming the kneaded product into a sheet and subsequently calcining the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A refractory aggregate (e.g. alumina, magnesia, silica, nitride or boride aggregate) is mixed with a combustion auxiliary (e.g. ceramic powder, talc, calcia, yttrium) and, if necessary, with 0-3% of a binder (e.g. methyl cellulose, acrylic resin, vinyl acetate resin, urea resin, melamine resin, phenolic resin). The mixing and kneading of the raw materials under elevated pressure is performed with a pressure type kneader, a pressure type kneading extruder, a pressure type vertical kneader, a pressure mixer, a multi-screw extruder, etc. The formation of the sheet is carried out with an extruder, rolls, etc. An usual calcination method and an usual calcination device are employed as such as the method and the device for calcining of the sheet. |
