PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality diagnosis method and an abnormality diagnosis system which can diagnose abnormality even not only for a steady state but also for a non-steady state of a monitoring object.SOLUTION: An abnormality diagnosis method includes: a model preparation step 1 of preparing a simulation model 3 of a monitoring object 2; an operation start step 2 of starting the operation of the monitoring object 2; a measurement step 3 of measuring an internal state quantity in an operation state of the monitoring object 2 and extracting an actual measurement value x'; a prediction step 4 of calculating a prediction value x of the internal state quantity of the monitoring object 2 by inputting the same control input value u as that of the operation state of the monitoring object 2 into a simulation mode 3; a Mahalanobis distance calculation step 5 of calculating a Mahalanobis distance MD from a difference between the actual measurement value x' and the prediction value x; and an abnormality diagnosis step 6 of diagnosing whether the operation state of the monitoring object 2 is abnormal based on the Mahalanobis distance MD.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
