The present invention relates to user equipment. The user equipment according to the present invention comprises a modem chip comprising a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) buffer controller which performs pre-partitioning in at least one of a case in which at least one of active component carriers changes, a case in which the number or size of HARQ processes changes, a case in which a transmission mode changes, and a case in which HARQ processing is initiated. The pre-partitioning is performed through the steps of: setting the number of partitions to a value identical to the number of active component carriers; setting relative sizes of the partitions to values proportional to capacities of corresponding component carriers; selecting, based on one or more criteria, compression levels and number of HARQ processes for each of the partitions; and dividing overall HARQ buffer memory by the set number of HARQ buffer partitions having the set relative sizes. Each of the partitions has a number of sub-partitions equal to the selected number of HARQ processes. |
