PURPOSE:To increase the retrieving processing speed of an electronic dictionary. CONSTITUTION:When a search key 14C is operated in a key input part 14, a CPU 10 searches the relevant dictionary area with the retrieving word stored in a retrieving word area 16B in response to the mode stored in a mode area 16A. Then the CPU 10 acquires a conversion address through a table (1) 18 and takes the translation data out of the corresponding dictionary area to display the data when a language A is converted into another. When the language A is not converted into another, the translation data is taken out of a dictionary area 12A and displayed by the address of the language A. Meanwhile the address of another language corresponding to the address of the language A is acquired through the table (1) 18 with conversion into a language excluding the language A. Then the translation data is taken out of the corresponding dictionary area and displayed. |
