987,706. Dishwashing machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 2, 1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 16833/62. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F1] In a dishwashing machine in which liquid is supplied simultaneously from the sump space 15 to an axial flow pump 34 and a vane pump 40, 41 therebelow an inlet cover is interposed between the two pump housings 35, 29, said cover having upper and lower portions 71, 73 arranged to direct liquid to said axial flow pump and said vane pump respectively to prevent the vane pump from liquid starvation. The pumps 35 and 40, 41 are mounted on the shaft of a reversible motor, so that when they are driven in one direction they supply water to a reaction type sprayer in the base and a rotatable spray at the top of the washing chamber respectively. When the motor is reversed the vane pump acts as a drain pump while the other pumps air, which is prevented from entering the vane pump by the inlet cover 68. |
