[Also in Division C5] A calcined catalyst for use in the catlytic steam reforming of liquid hydrocarbons is made as follows:- 32.6 Kg of MgO is introduced into 100 Kg of nickel nitrate solution containing 13.4 Kg of nickel, which is thus precipitated as nickel hydroxide. The mass is dried and roasted at 700‹C., and 4 Kg of MgO and 13.4 Kg of gamma Al 2 O 3 added. The mass is mixed, first dry, then with water. and subsequently pelleted. The pellets are calcined at 1100‹C.
