[Also in Division E2] A cosmetic compact comprises a moulded plastics container 1 having a wall 3 spaced from the periphery of the container base to define a ledge 4 and a similarly constructed moulded plastics lid 20 having a wall 22 and a ledge 23, metal bands 40, having lugs 41, 42, 43 which project into slots 12, 13, 14 in the container wall and 30, 31, 32 in the lid wall, covering the walls which are connected by a hinge 80. The bands 40 have lugs 45, 46 which pass through holes 15, 26 in the container and lid walls respectively to fixed the bands firmly on the walls. Lugs 87, 88; 90, 91 are formed at the ends of curved hinge plates 86, 89 which have Interlocking portions 83, 84 joined by a pin 85. The lugs 87 &c. pass through aligned pairs of holes 16, 47; 17, 48 in the container wall 3 and its band 40 and aligned pairs of holes 28, 48; 27, 47 in the lid wall 22 and its band. A mirror 70 is held against the inside of the lid cover 21 by a seating ring 71 having a hinge cover 74 with a lip 76 which engages a recess 29 in the lid wall 22.
