[Also in Division H5] Hair curling apparatus comprises hollow cylindrical rollers 19 (Fig. 7, not shown) around which the hair is clamped and into which may be inserted heating units 16 comprising metal cylinders containing resistance heating wire on a ceramic core designed to store heat generated when the unit is inserted in an electric current supply stand prior to use. A bimetal thermostat is provided either in the stand (sensitive to the temperature of the metal cylinder) or within the unit itself, in which case a fusible link is also incorporated. The heating unit has a translucent hand grip at one end within which is a neon indicating lamp connected across the element. |
