A C-shaped cradle for supporting a coil 2 is suspended in such a way that its supporting arm 1 remains horizontal whether or not the cradle is loaded. The cradle is suspended from a shackle 9 by a linkage 7, 12, 13 biased by a compression-spring 10 so that when loaded it assumes the configuration shown in full lines but when unloaded it assumes the configuration shown in broken lines; in the first configuration the shackle 9 is immediately above the centre of gravity of the cradle and its load, while in the second configuration the shackle is immediately above the centre of gravity of the cradle alone. |
