Trioxane is copolymerised with at least one comonomer in th liquid phase in the presence of methylene chloride and a soluble catalyst which is a salt whose anion is from hexachloroarsenate, hexafluoroarsenate, hexachlorophosphate and hexafluorophosphate. Polymers of molecular weight up to 500,000 are obtained. In general polyacetals from other catalysts systems have molecular weights of about 130,000. |
