A harrow comprises beams 4 carrying tines 5; and attached to each set of tines there is a rubbing plate 8 extending along the length of each beam 4, the plates having teeth 9 to break up clods of soil. These teeth may be rectangular (Fig. 3, not shown), trapezoidal (Fig. 4, not shown) or, as shown, triangular, may be pins, may be bent upwardly and then downwardly, may be formed as indentations in the plate 8 (Figs. 6, 7, not shown), or may lie in the plane of the plate (Fig. 8, not shown). Transverse reciprocating movement is obtained via a power take-off shaft, a disc 13 and a fork-shaped body 14 hinged to a sleeve 2 which has two arms 3, one connected to each of the beams 4. The reciprocating parts are suspended from a panel by levers 6 which are pivoted to the frame and have their arms hinged to the beams.</p> |
