1,226,361. Conveyer systems. DORROLIVER Inc. 19 March, 1968 [21 March, 1967], No. 13315/68. Heading B7L. [Also in Division B8] A selective retrieval system such as for an air cargo terminal comprises a wheeled cart towline conveyer 20 fed from a cargo sorting conveyer 22, land vehicle and aircraft loading spurs 24, 26 and a storage block 30 fed by switch spurs 62. Carts other than for immediate discharge are transferred by a mechanism 84 for storage prior to discharge to the conveyer 20 again by a mechanism 86. A stacker 70 including a crane 72 and elevator 76 runs between storage banks on rails 96, 98 at the top of columns 150 of storage the rack banks 74, having trackways 152, driven by a mechanism 100. Carts are loaded into the elevator at an inlet station on a spur 62 by an extractor 134, Fig. 10, having a driving lug 144 to engage a cart tow pin 142 and are similarly unloaded at a discharge station. The trackways 152 slope slightly down from front to back to prevent the carts rolling into an aisle. A transfer mechanism 84, Figs. 5, 6, (not shown), has a chain tow-line to draw a cart from a spur 62 up a ramp from which it rolls to the inlet station while from a discharge station 80 to a transfer mechanism 86, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), provides a downward slope to a tow line spur. An identifying device is provided at the inlet station to determine the rack to which the cart is delivered. |
