Insoluble plastics based on epoxy compounds

These compds. are produced by the reaction of (1) anthracene butane diol with (2) succinic acid anhydride in xylene solvent and in presence of PbO catalyst, to give (3) = anthracene - endo butane diol di-succinic acid mono ester. Reacting alkali salt of (3) with (4) halogen epoxy alkane yields (5) = diglycidyl ester of (3). Reaction of (5) with (6) di(poly)carboxylic acids/anhydrides to give plastics with improved mechanical and thermal properties.
