Securements with rubber coatings for the packer slips are glued and vulcanised to the slips' insides to lie concentric and coaxial to and with the long axis of the packer, pref. as frustum shaped components set freely on a frustrum sector of the packer itself. When the packer rides down it forcibly splays the slips. A restrictor bush can be adjustably screwed down on an adjunct above the frustrum sector so as to limit the degree of splay of the slips and the force they exert on the hole wall.
