<p>Alpha-Pipecolinic acid (I) or its compounds are prepd. by reaction of alpha-chloro-epsilon-caprolactam (II) (1mol.) with an alkali or alkaline earth hydroxide (at least 2 mol.) at 75-100 degrees in an aqueous medium. I is a pharm. intermediate. Thus II (147g) 2N-NaOH (1100g) were stirred 2h. at 90-95 degrees, absorbed in an ion exchange resin, washed, and eluted with 2N-NH4OH, to give I (111g) np. 276-6 degrees (from Me2CO-Aq).</p> |
