1,271,607. Printing apparatus. HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN A.G. 27 Jan., 1970 [28 March. 1969], No. 3879/70. Heading B6C. Sheets 9 printed on by offset lithography from plate cylinder 1 and blanket cylinder 4 are removed from impression cylinder 5 by a chain conveyer 11 and receive an imprint from numbering units 14. The conveyer 11 passes around a chain wheel 13<1>, on which the numbering units 14 are fixedly mounted. As the wheel 13<1> rotates, the sheets 9 are drawn over an impression cylinder 17, and each numbering unit in turn co-operates with the cylinder 18. The numbering units may be inked by way of an ink-carrying segment on the wheel 13<1>, a messenger roller 19 which is mounted on the other end of a two-armed lever 18 from the impression cylinder, so as to avoid contacting the sheets 9, and rollers 23, 24. Alternatively, the numbering units 14 may be inked by a separate roller train, and the ink segment may be on a shaft parallel to the numbering units shaft, Fig. 4 (not shown). |
