A roller bearing has its outer race 20 connected to a fixed structure 38 by axially extending resilient bars 26, and its radial movement is damped by fluid introduced through conduits 34, 35, 36 into a gap 33 between annular members 30, 25 fixed respectively to the outer race and the fixed structure. The radial movement of the bearing is limited by co-operating abutments 43, 44 fixed to the outer race and fixed structure respectively. The gap 33 may alternatively be in the same axial position as the rollers 17. The bearing described supports a turbine-compressor shaft of a gas turbine. |
