Moulding compositions comprise polypropylene and 0À5 to 60 parts by weight per 100 parts of polymer of a fluoride of lithium, a transition metal or a metal of Groups II and III of the Periodic Table. Specified fluorides are zinc, cadmium, tin (II), lead (II), titanium (III), chromium (III), manganese (IV), copper (I), copper (II), silver (I), gold (I), mercury (II), germanium (IV), tin (IV), zirconium (IV), hafnium (IV), thorium (III), niobium (III), tantalum (III), molybdenum (V), tungsten (IV), uranium (III), chromium (II), iron (II), cobalt (II), cobalt (III), osmium (V), lithium, beryllium, aluminium, magnesium and double fluorides, e.g. zinc manganese (IV) hexafluoride. Preferred polypropylenes have intrinsic viscosities of 3 to 20. The compositions may be made into sheets and films. |
