[Also in Divisions G3 and H2] A generator for producing a sawtooth waveform having a rapidly rising and slowly falling shape comprises a Miller integrator having a capacitor 310 and NPN transistors 304, 308, with an output at 316. Potentiometers 302 and 306 adjust the rising and falling slopes respectively and 314 adjusts the amplitude. The integrator is synchronized with an A.C. supply by a Schmitt trigger 300 connected to an impulse transformer 284 whose primary 286 is connected to the supply. The circuit is duplicated in the lower half of the Figure, using PNP transistors, to provide a negative half to the waveform. The generator is used in a triggering circuit for converters controlling an electric motor (see Division H2).</p> |
