<p>Applying a solid lubricant to a surface by entraining it with a support consisting of deformable particles of small dimensions. The deformable particles are preferably elastic and with a rough surface to promote adhesion of the lubricant. They are desirably spherical and of size about 1 mm. diameter. Foamed resins such as polystyrene (esp.), polyethers, polyurethanes, polysiloxanes and synthetic rubbers may be used; as may natural rubbers. Solid lubricants such as stearates, graphite are envisaged. The process increases the flow of solid lubricants.</p> |
