摘要 1,209,577. Knitting machines. SCHUBERT SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 1 April, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 17050/69. Heading D1C. In a Straight-bar rib knitting machine adapted for producing welts, the machine needle bar 3 may be connected selectively to means producing a steady draw-off force or means for causing it to perform knitting movements. Needle bar 3 is moved horizontally by cams 11, 101, 102 on the main cam shaft 10 respectively for normal knitting, transfer of loops from machine to frame needles and for taking up the initial course. These cams are engaged by one or other of the followers 14, 14' carried on a lever 13 which can be shogged by fork 16 and is biassed by spring 130. Lever 13 is secured to a shaft 12 and has an extension 18 connected by arms 15 to bar 3 which is moved vertically by lever 180 to press needles 35. Arms 15 comprise pull rods 151 connected to bar 3 which slide in sleeves 150 connected to extension 18 and are biassed into these sleeves by springs 153. A projection 152 on each rod 151 slides in a slot 155 in each sleeve 150 and during rib-knitting is engaged in a cross-slot 155' to hold each arm rigid. Knocking over bar 5 is moved horizontally by a two-armed lever 112 having roller followers 113, 113' which can be shogged by fork 161 between cams 110, 115 on shaft 10 respectively for rib knitting and for removing bar 5 from working position. During plain knitting, stitches are transferred from the machine needles to the frame needles by shogging follower 14' into engagement with cam 101 when recess 102" in cam 102 is adjacent follower 14'. Bar 3 is retracted out of operative position when follower 14' reaches recess 101" in cam 101 aligned with recess 102" in cam 102, lever 13 moving so far under the action of spring 130 that an abutment 131 on the lever engages a fixed abutment 19 and follower 14' ceases to contact cam 101 and is shogged to its inactive position. When knitting a welt, projections 152 are released and, when lever 18 is retracted away from the frame needles 40, springs 153 act through rods 151 on needle bar 3. Roller followers 14' cooperate with cam 102 to move the machine needles toward the frame needles and the initial course is made on both sets of needles. The follower 14' is then moved to its inactive position and the springs 153 exert a steady force on bar 3 to draw off the fabric as it is knitted on needles 40, the travel being determined by the setting of abutment 19 and preferably being sufficient to allow a welt rod 60 to be placed by means of a rod holder 6 on the drawn-off fabric and laid in the draw-off hooks 450 which complete the drawing off of the welt. To close the welt, projections 152 are engaged in slots 155', bar 3 is shogged by rail 36 acting through fingers 360 and follower 14' is shogged onto cam 101 to bring bar 3 into transfer position to close the welt after which bar 3 is shogged back to its initial position by rail 36. Then bar 3 is operated by cam 11 for a rib fabric or cam 101 moves it back and follower 14' is moved to inactive position for a plain fabric and, at the same time, knocking over bar 5 may be moved to a rest position. In a modification, Fig. 3, guides 2 are journalled at one end on shaft 132 and their other ends are fixed or movable upwardly to press beaded needles. Shaft 132 can shog guides 2 and with them bar 3, which runs on rotary pins 32 in the guides. Bar 3 is connected by springs 158 to lever 18 and pins 133 on lever 18 engage elongated openings 196 in arms 195 connected to bar 3 but can be fixed by locking pins 197. When the pins 133 in openings 196 are free to move, springs 158 draw off the fabric to an extent depending on the length of openings 196 and the displacement of lever 18. Knocking-over bar 5 may follow the movement of bar 3. A welt bar 44 with welt hooks 45 may be used instead of rod 60. Movement of bar 3 which is equal to half the length of fabric required for the welt is determined by abutments 190 adjusted by worms, the worms for different sections being connected together. In another arrangement the bar 3 has latched needles and the draw-off spring is connected between two levers connected by an electro magnetic coupling so as to be either rigid or pivoted, Fig. 3 (not shown). In another embodiment, again with latched needles in bar 3.
