[Also in Division C3] A backing member e.g. of flexible, non- fibrous vinyl halide polymer, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate or polyvinylidene chloride; or of cotton, paper, wood, hardboard, metals or polystyrene is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising using a tacky copolymer of (A) at least 35% by wt. of at least one alkyl acrylate having a C 4-14 alkyl group, (B) 20-60% of at least one vinyl ester of a C 1-6 saturated monocarboxylic acid and (C) 0.3-5% of at least one copolymerisable α,# ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, the copolymer having a Williams plasticity number (as defined in the Specification) of 1.8-3. The adhesive may consist of a copolymer of (A) 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, and butyl acrylate, (B) vinyl acetate and (C) maleic anhydride or itaconic acid. |
