[Also in Division F2] A connector for holding two parts together in a rotationally oriented position, e.g. a work pallet 15 to a machining station 10 or a machining attachment to a drive spindle, comprises a pair of bodies 11 and 13 each having a concentric ring of projections 16, 17, e.g. gear teeth, for interengagement in a predetermined rotational position when the body 13 is raised by an actuator 23. Each of the ring of projections 16, 17 is covered during disengagement by a resilient seal 18, 19. When the two bodies are brought together ridges 26, 33 engage the seals and force them into grooves 25, 34 to uncover the ring of projections to allow engagement. The seals are formed of sheet-metal covered with resilient material e.g. tetrafluoroethylene, to ensure they bear down on the ring of projections and against a lip 27, 35 to seal the ring of projections when the bodies are disengaged. In a modification (Figs. 6-8, not shown) a spring-biased ring is provided in each groove to ensure the return of the resilient seals, and both seals are attached to their respective body on their outer peripheries. |
