In a pusher furnace the water cooled support pipes for the workpiece sliding surfaces are arranged horizontally at an angle relative to the axis of movement of the workpieces through the furnace. They are however fitted with blocks for making direct contact with the workpieces which are arranged in parallel relative to the direction of travel of the workpieces. The layout reduces the "shadow effect" resulting from the normally parallel support grids in respect to the radiation heat transfer between furnace floor and the workpieces. The same applies to cooling effect along contact areas. |
