PURPOSE:To enable a boat to turn into a running state quickly going over a hump at the time of acceleration from a rest state by fitting the propeller of an outboard engine or the like in such a way as causing a part of a cowling to be immersed in water at the time of a rest, and only a propulsion casing to be immersed at the time of running. CONSTITUTION:An outboard engine 10 has a casing support bracket 17 fixed to a swivel bracket 14 so supported on a hull 11 as to be capable of freely tilting, and an engine 30 is fixed onto the bracket 17 via upper exhaust guide plates 31 and 32. Also, a propeller 44 is caused to rotate with the power of the engine 30 via a drive shaft 41 and a propeller shaft 43. Furthermore, space around the engine 30 is enclosed with upper and lower cowlings 51 and 52. In this case, the outboard engine 10 is so set that a part of the lower cowling 52 is immersed in water during a rest, and only the propulsion casing 18 is immersed at the time of running. According to this construction, a stern is prevented from sinking with buoyancy acting on the submerged section of the lower cowling 52 at the time of propulsion, and running state can be thereby quickly attained. |
