<p>Improving the dyeability of polyesters by exposing the polyester, in contact with a grafting soln. containing a polymerisable vinyl or vinylidene monomer having hydrophilic end group and a solvent of MeOH and/or EtOH, to gamma-radiation. Grafting soln. containing acrylamide, methacrylic acid and styrene mixture, or acrylamide and styrene mixture. The soln. contains 5-40 wt.% of vinylic monomer with 15-30 wt.% styrene. Improved dyeability and improved moisture absorbing properties. Properties such as high tensile strength, crease resistance and abrasion resistance remain unaffected by the treatment.</p> |
