1,211,438. Dispensing wire. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 15 Feb., 1968 [27 Feb., 1967], No. 7378/68. Heading A4G. [Also in Division B8] Successive portions of a jacketed multiconductor wire 35 are pulled from a coil 33 on a former 8 between a lead-out edge 30 of the former and the bottom 34 of a carton 11, a restricted relative movement occurring between former 8 and carton 11 to restrain wire 35 and allow it to be dispensed tangle-free. Carton 11 is formed from an integral flexible corrugated cardboard blank (10, Fig. 5) including a wire removal knockout (13, Fig. 2) providing port 40, an inspection knockout (14), a handle knockout (22) and a tab (24) for locking the inner end (44, Fig. 6) of wire 35. Former 8 is of flexible polystyrene sheet and has a flange 32 with inspection apertures (36, Fig. 2) alignable with knockout (14) and projections 37 to prevent jamming of nested formers 8 (Figs. 4, 5). Former 8 may be inverted in carton 11. Carton 11 and former 8 may be integral. |
