<p>Slag for covering the feeder heads intermediate the ladle and the ingot mould during pouring of steel comprises a mixture of 35-55% glass, 9.5-35% metallurgical slay and 25-50% ash e.g. central heating ash or volcanic ash. The mixture prevents deterioration of the steel during casting by oxidising or by picking up H2 or CO2 from artificial atmospheres used in prior art.</p> |
