A ring of vertical air pipes extends from an external manifold down through a charge of bitumen in the bottom of a cylindrical boiler and each pipe delivers air to an air-lift pump which raises bitumen up a corresponding vertical tube having an outlet above the charge in a closed-top duct mounted in a domed hood of the boiler. Bitumen circulation occurs through the tubes. |
