A gastro-intestinal contrast agent for detail-identification consists of a microscopically dispersed unstable suspension having a high content of BaSO4 of av. density 3.35-3.55. bulk-wt. 1.10-1.20 g/ml., bulk-volume 0.85-0.95 ml/g and granule-size 0.01-1 mu, esp. 0.02-0.1 mu. Superior to conventional thixotropic suspensions, permitting early cancer diagnosis and combing good tolerance with short passage times. The contrast agent has addns. of flavourings and suspension stabilisers. |
