1335164 Bonded carpets HERMANN BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU GmbH 3 Feb 1972 [17 March 1971] 5073/72 Heading B2E A method of manufacturing a bonded carpet comprises extruding a sheet of filled plastics material or filled synthetic rubber directly into the nip between a pair of heated rollers, 7 and 8, to contact the sheet with a carpet base 5 fed between the rollers, and applying pressure between the rollers whereby the sheet is bonded to the carpet base. The carpet base is preferably a woven fabric fed from a roller 7 and the plastics or rubber is fed into an orifice 2 of an extruder. A worm 3 then forces the plastics or rubber through a slit die 4 into the nip of the rollers. The bonded carpet may be subsequently cut into tiles. |
