<p>Pure, well-crystallised beta-FeOOH (free of alpha-FeOOH) is produced from a Fe(III) salt in an aq. soln. in the presence of a substance hydrolysable at an elevated temp (pref. acetamide), forming with water a buffer system with a pH of 1.5-5. The product can be used as a pigment, catalyst, adsorbent, or starting material for the prodn. of ferromagnetic gamme-Fe2O3.</p> |
